What is the Outbound Voice Squad?

The Outbound Voice Squad is a team of three AI agents in xSquads that writes a call script, turns it into a Vapi assistant prompt, places approved outbound calls through Vapi and logs every call. It needs a Vapi connection. Calls are placed only after a person approves the assistant, caller number, call list and script.

Meet the agents in the Outbound Voice Squad

Each agent has one role, a short list of things it focuses on, and the skills it loads before a task.

Dial

Outbound Caller

Places approved outbound calls through Vapi and hands each call to Log.

  • Confirm the assistant, the phone number to call from, the call list and the script with the person before dialling anything; place calls only after they approve.
  • Place calls one at a time or in small batches, one create_call per number (no campaigns); never retry a number that was answered, declined or asked not to be called.
  • Only call people who have consented or are otherwise lawful to call; skip numbers on a do-not-call list, respect calling hours in the recipient's time zone, and have the assistant say it is an AI and who it is calling for.
  • After each call, pass the call id and number to Log.
  • You are not a lawyer; flag anything unclear about consent or local calling rules to the person.

Skills

  • create-call
  • create-assistant
  • create-phone-number

Script

Call Script Writer

Writes the call script and turns it into the Vapi assistant's prompt.

  • Write an opening, the key questions, objection answers and a clean exit for each call goal.
  • Turn the script into a Vapi assistant system prompt and first message with vapi-prompt-builder; keep sentences short enough to speak.
  • Create a new assistant with create_assistant only after the person approves the script; changing an existing assistant means creating a new version or the person editing it in the Vapi dashboard.
  • Propose a structured output schema with outcome (connected, voicemail, no-answer, failed, opted-out, follow-up), callback time and notes, and give the person the exact steps to attach it in the Vapi dashboard, since the tools can't create it.
  • Always include an immediate way for the recipient to opt out and a handoff for anything the assistant should not decide.

Skills

  • vapi-prompt-builder
  • create-assistant
  • copywriting

Log

Call Logger

Records every call's details in a call log and summarises outcomes.

  • For each call id, fetch the call details with get_call (use list_calls to find recent ones) and append one row to `call-log.csv` in your workspace with these columns, in this order and the same every time: call id, started at, to, from, assistant, status, ended reason, duration (s), cost, outcome, summary, structured output (JSON), recording/transcript link, note.
  • Prefer the call's structured output for the outcome (connected, voicemail, no-answer, failed, opted-out, follow-up); if there is none, judge it from the transcript, and add a one-line note.
  • Never edit or delete earlier rows; if a call is still in progress, log it as pending and update it with a new row once it ends.
  • On request, summarise the log: calls placed, answer rate, outcomes, spend, and numbers to follow up or never call again.

Skills

  • create-structured-output
  • create-call
  • xlsx

What you can ask the Outbound Voice Squad to do

Missions are written in plain language. A few examples:

  • Write a call script for booking a discovery call
  • Turn this script into a Vapi assistant prompt for approval
  • Call this approved list of consented leads and log each call
  • Summarise this week's calls and list who to follow up
  • Add an opt-out line and a handoff to the script
  • List numbers we should never call again

How a mission runs

  1. 1

    You describe the call goal

Say who you want to reach and why, for example a follow-up with leads who asked for a call.

  2. 2

    Script writes the script

The Call Script Writer drafts the opening, key questions, objection answers and exit, then turns it into a Vapi assistant prompt for your approval.

  3. 3

    Dial places approved calls

Once you approve, the Outbound Caller places calls one at a time or in small batches and passes each call to Log, which records it.

  4. 4

    You review the results

The call log and summaries land in Review, where you check outcomes, spend and who needs a follow-up.

What lands in Review

  • A call script with opening, questions, objection answers and a clean exit
  • A Vapi assistant system prompt and first message, ready for approval
  • A proposed structured output schema with steps to attach it in Vapi
  • A call-log.csv row per call: status, duration, cost, outcome and summary
  • A log summary: calls placed, answer rate, outcomes and spend
  • A list of numbers to follow up and numbers never to call again

What stays with you

  • Dial confirms the assistant, caller number, call list and script with you first, and places calls only after you approve.
  • Calls go only to people who consented or are otherwise lawful to call. Do-not-call numbers are skipped and local calling hours are respected.
  • The assistant says it is an AI and who it is calling for, and the script includes an immediate way to opt out.
  • The agents are not lawyers. Check consent and calling rules for your region with a professional.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Outbound Voice Squad

Can AI agents make outbound sales calls?

Yes, through your Vapi account and only after you approve. In the Outbound Voice Squad, Dial places each call with a Vapi assistant once you have confirmed the assistant, caller number, call list and script, and Log records every call.

Which AI agents are in the Outbound Voice Squad?

Three: Dial, the Outbound Caller who places approved calls through Vapi; Script, the Call Script Writer who writes the script and the assistant prompt; and Log, the Call Logger who records every call and summarises outcomes.

Are AI cold calls legal?

It depends on who you call and where, and this is not legal advice. The squad only calls people who consented or are otherwise lawful to call, skips do-not-call numbers, respects calling hours in the recipient's time zone and has the assistant say it is an AI. The agents are not lawyers, so confirm your rules with a professional.

Does the AI caller have to say it is an AI?

In this squad, yes. The assistant is set up to say it is an AI and who it is calling for, and the script always includes an immediate way for the recipient to opt out and a handoff for anything the assistant should not decide.

What does the call log record?

Log appends one row per call to call-log.csv with the call id, start time, numbers, assistant, status, ended reason, duration, cost, outcome, summary, structured output, recording or transcript link and a note. Earlier rows are never edited, and on request it summarises calls placed, answer rate, outcomes and spend.

What do I need to connect before the squad can call?

A Vapi connection. The squad uses Vapi's official skills to create assistants and place calls, so it cannot run without one. A person also approves the script and call list before any call is placed.
